15 Cool Twitter Plugins For Wordpress
By Jamin. Posted in Twitter, Wordpress | 3 Comments »
Twitter Blog : A fantastic plugin that automatically tweets your posts and monitors for @reply’s to that tweet. Then every hour it turns all the tweet reply’s into comments on your WordPress post. Genious!
Tweet Blender : Definitely one of the most complete sidebar plugins I have seen. Has tons of options like displaying #hashtags and @username tags as links if you choose. also has an option to include a reply and follow me link under the tweet. Can display images for every tweet or just your tweets. There is so many things to list I will probably be writing a review of this plugin in the future.
Twitter Ticker : If you want something different this plugin is the one for you. This widget displays the Twitter content you choose in a stylish sliding bar on the bottom of your site. You have the option to display the ticker on page or load or not along with its speed. Definitely check this one out.
Twitter Fools Trending Topics : A simple plugin that displays the most recent trending topics on Twitter. It has provisions for caching as well as displaying an error message if Twitter is down.
Twig : This is a really unique plugin. What it does is put tweets in between your WordPress blog posts or on any page you want. You can control all the usual features such as how many tweets to show, how often to refresh and so on. Whats different about this plugin is that the style for your tweets is all made by you and made directly in the admin.
Twittify : This widget takes all the @username and #hashtags on your WordPress page and turns them into the correct Twitter links. Very simple but still very useful.
Twitter Tools : A nice plugin with lots of features. Allows you to make WordPress posts from your tweets every time you tweet, once a day or once a week. Other options include tweeting from your sidebar or admin, what Javascript library to use(Jquery or Prototype) and more.
Big Tweet Button : Personally one of my favorite Twitter plugins. Simply displays a re-tweet button next to all your posts along with a re-tweet counter to see how many times the link has been clicked.
Tweet Suite : An easy to use widgets that pulls in your twitter feed and adds ability to automatically tweet your posts. Has a multitude of sidebar widgets including My Tweets, My Favorite Tweets, Most Tweeted and Recently Tweeted.
Twitterdoodle : This plugin allows you to post specific tweets on to your WordPress blog based on keywords. Basically if your blog is about cars you will use the keyword of cars and then only tweets with the word cars in them would be made into posts. Also has the ability to only post into the archive section of WordPress and not to the homepage.
Twitter WordPress Sidebar Widget : This is one of the simplest plugins out there. It comes in the form of a single sidebar widget. You can control the amount of tweets to be shown along with what text to display before and after your tweets.
Twitter Widget Pro : Will display twitter images, #hashtags and @username tags correctly as links. It also includes the location your tweet was made from. Displays as widget in the sidebar but also has the ability to be included in pages or posts with short code.
Twitter Link Comments : Adds a extra field to your comment form for the user to enter their Twitter user name. It is then displayed as a follow me link under their name in the comments.
WordPress Dashboard Twitter : This widget adds the ability to tweet from the admin dashboard of your WordPress. Allows you to tweet, view direct messages, view mentions, view sent and view favorite tweets
WP-Drag2Share : Not a twitter specific plugin but most definitely worth the mention. This gem will allow you to drag and drop items to a nice little sharing center at the top of the screen. Right now it supports Twitter, Facebook and Delicious.
So there it is. A bunch of Twitter plugins for WordPress. Hopefully some of you can find these links useful. I will definitely continue to update this post with the new plugins I come across and of course if there are some you guys know of then feel free to comment with a link. Thanks for reading.
